[lcf] is a student-lead campus church on the campus of Lynchburg College. This movement of campus-based churches has been going on for a few years now. We are a 100% support-based church through ministry partners from around the country who choose to invest in the church for the sake of seeing the college-aged generation reached with the gospel.
We define our mission in three simple statements:
engage the culture.
embrace everyone.
endure the cross.
who is in charge?
Students lead basically everything with a staff that spiritually coaches students, plans, and helps fill in the missing holes.
what does [lcf] stand for?
[lcf] or Lynchburg Christian Fellowship joins with followers across the world and across time that believe in the Apostles’ Creed and Nicene Creed. [lcf] stands for hope, justice, and the belief that Jesus is redeeming the world back to Him through His church.
when and where?
Sundays 10:30am (Sydnor Performance hall in Schewel) at Lynchburg College. Homegroups (midsize communities) meet on Mondays and Wednesdays at 9p in the Brewer Townhouse; online anytime at lcfva.com, send mail to 1501 Lakeside Drive, Lynchburg, VA 24501.
why?
To engage the culture, embrace everyone, and endure the cross.
how?
Philip Watkins and a handful of Lynchburg College students started a student fellowship group in 2008 as part of campus-focused movement for university/college churches. Since then, God has grown the group to involve over a hundred students.
our logo?
The four squares seen in our logo represent our four different expressions of church. Too often, “Christians” think that just going to church is enough. At [lcf] we believe that the gospel is more centered around being the church than going to a synagogue, temple, or in our case church. With that in mind we value each expression equally which is why each shape is the exact same size. One of the expressions is not more important than the other. Our four expressions are: Sunday Gatherings, [home groups], [journey groups], and personal rhythms.
