There are a ton of ways you can get involved in [lcf]. If you are a student on the campus of Lynchburg College you can start by checking out our various gatherings such as Sundays and [home groups]. If you have been an active member of these already and you want to serve in a ministry then please take some time to view and pray through the various ministries through [lcf] under the “get involved” tab above. If you are not an LC student and you have either been impacted by someone at [lcf] or have found us in some other way you can get involved in two major ways. First, pray. As a college church we are constantly encountering new obstacles and nothing is more powerful then prayer. Second, you can become a ministry partner with [lcf] through financial support. Please view our giving page to contribute in this way.
[lcf] expresses “church” in four different ways. We call these our four expressions. Each expression makes up a fourth of who we are as the body of Christ. None of the expressions are elevated higher than the others in how we live, talk, and walk out community at [lcf]. Here are each of our expressions and how you can get involved in each:
[sunday gatherings]
We gather weekly for services that represent values such as excellence, creativity, and community. The reasoning behind our weekly gatherings is to worship the creator of the universe through song and response, discover and apply the depths of Scripture, experience community, and invite others to explore and find Jesus. Some of these roles involve serving on Sundays as well as throughout the week in order to help pull off our Sunday gatherings. We need people to serve as:
- Worship Team Band Member
- Sound Technician
- Media Guide (clicker)
- Lighting
- Connections Team
- Video Team
- Setup Teardown
- Graphic Design
- Photography
- Marketing & Finance
[journey groups]
We also believe that we need strong opportunities for us to explore what Jesus meant by discipleship and impacting the lives of others around us. Every week following the first half of [home groups] students break down into these [journey groups] for prayer and accountability:
- [journey group] Leader
- [journey groups]
- Prayer Team
- Deeper
[home groups]
[lcf] comes together weekly in a midsize community gathering (20-40) to fellowship, engage in large group discussion, pray, and worship. In addition to gathering on campus weekly we also use [home groups] as the vehicle for us to serve. [lcf] has decided to team up with organizations on campus and around the city of Lynchburg to provide opportunities for us to serve. We also are working with two different organizations to help make a global impact as well as keeping our community focused on missions through short and long term trips. Here are some options of how you can help us pull off this expression:
- [home group] Leader
- [home groups]
- Serve Coordinator
- Freedom 4/24 (helping to prevent sex-trafficking)
- Living Water (digging wells across the world)
- NYSUM (NYC missions trip)
- Honduras
[spiritual rhythms]
All throughout Scripture we see three rhythms spring up to help us grow spiritually, emotionally, mentally, and even physically. Scripture, prayer, and rest are vital to a follower’s lifestyle and are also a huge reason as to how a community grows. Each of the other expressions have spiritual rhythms already in them; however, there are a few ways that you can grow and get connected that are specified for this expression:
- Prayer Team
- [journey groups]
- accountability with leadership
